No, that’s not what people mean. They mean measure first, then optimize. Small optimizations may or may not be worth it. You don’t know until you measure using real data.

Data: While most liquids do not actually produce any audible sound, I find that if I increase the gain on my audio processors, I can discern the faint popping sounds emitted by the carbonation breaking the surface. However, I do not believe this is affected by the temperature of the beverage.
