Particularly at the beginning when they started passing laws to persecute Jews and other minorities. All done legally. Like when the U.S. didn’t let women or blacks vote or own land. All legal.
Now to be precise those women’s rights were taken away legally as they were not codified anywhere in a lasting manner.
