Nobody’s passing sentence, it’s just speculation about guilty parties. Last I checked that was legal and in fact common discussion.
Would you like to name other likely suspects? It’s not standard criminals, there have been no ransom demands. And they’re unlikely to piss off the govt to this extent. Which leaves state actors. Gee, wonder who it might be.
No seat belt, panic swerve, or something like that.
Groan inducing, but I’m missing the burn?
I wasn’t referring to the US in particular, but global birth rates.

Edit to add: I’m in no way commenting on the situation in the States, just clearing up a potential misconception I see very frequently, which is that the global population is still booming, when we should already be worrying about the opposite.
The whole ‘every plug has a switch’ thing is bullshit, though.
There are way too many devices that will light up an led the moment you plug it in with no way to disable it.
misinformation about declining birth rates
What misinformation? Every expert on the subject is agreeing that we’re at or below replacement rate.
You seem to have missed the whole point of this discussion, which is that it sucks for other people.
Post style, metadata, and residual data
Anybody who’s willing to put in that much effort could just set up an instance and scrape it from the start. You’re not getting any protection either way.

It’s almost like we need an ambassador there to deal with these people.
The thing is, once you’ve started a discussion, there’s a case to be made that it’s no longer just your data, but rather the entire post and comments is a new creation, something greater than the sum of its parts. At that point, is it fair to remove your bit, and devaluing the rest?
If someone wants to save a copy of my data, they have an option to do so before I delete my data, but not after.
An automated way to do so would effectively be to keep the data but unlink it from the account that created it, no?
Or do they require a collateral fee when renting?
Yes
Not the person you replied to, but there’s a lot of people who get into arguments then edit their original comment to make it seem like the other person is in the wrong.
Hoo boy. I remember scrolling through that post, seeing so many detailed replies, and thinking the OP was an ass for not bothering to reply any question. This just makes it so much worse
Exactly how do you think a bunch of cables fail?
Yeah, it’s one of those things that would be nice if it weren’t for all those pesky malicious parties
Are we still talking about nuclear?
Close enough, somebody mathed it out to 1144 in the comments
