They’re trolling. It’s not just that they’re not paid enough to care, it’s that they’re so criminally underpaid, they’ve lost respect for everyone. If they were happy at their work, paid well, had benefits, and paid time off, and were treated well, they’d never consider trolling like this. We’d all feel like part of a community that respected and valued our input, and we’d all treat each other much better.

It’s a class war, and every year there’s less for us to share because the filthy rich refuse to share, and cannot be satisfied. It’s about power, and what good is power if it’s not exercised–wielded over others?

  • I never noticed. But, I haven’t been to Hobby Lobby in probably ten years. Also, I’m old, and seeing someone enter prices into a cash register wouldn’t seem odd to me, I don’t think I would have taken notice. Maybe now, since I’ve been practically recruited as a check-out person, working for Walmart for free, and in the process taking someone’s job, maybe now I would, but I never have.

  • Dry pinto beans are cheap (and flavorless). You just need to soak them in water before cooking.

Rice is a carb and nutritionally void, but it will fill you up and keep the cravings away.

A better path is to shift your entire diet away from carbs and toward nutritionally dense, unprocessed foods. But, this takes time, and you probably don’t want to start that when you’re low on money.

I’ve been eating a mostly plant-based keto diet for 15 years now. I can easily go two days on just water and be fine, no cravings. The best way to save money on food is to not eat at all. So, rather than eat crappy food just to feel full and stave off carb cravings, eat less food, but more nutritionally dense food. You’ll save money and still be healthy.

  • With so few of them, it wouldn’t take much to end them all.

With 200, half would be female, and maybe a third of them would be child bearing.

A food crisis, or internal strife, or disease, or all three at once, could easily drop that number to too few to sustain the population, and that would be the end of them.

Just because it hasn’t happened before, doesn’t mean it can not have happened recently. For all we know, they were suffering such a crisis for the past twenty+ years, and now the last of them have died off, or will die off soon.
