This was my first thought. It’s sticky because unfortunately for her this is the type of thing an opiate addict would lie about.

Hopefully the lesson people learn from this is that the Internet was never as genuine as it presents and we can leave the people who want AI art to their devices and emphasize private, personal art including the social experience of it.
Especially because the app is called “tea”, like the slang term for gossip. The letter of the intention may have been good but the whole thing is toxic.
It’s meant to deify these CEOs. Gullible schmoes see this and think “well that makes sense, he spends every hour of his day working. That’s three times more than me! No wonder he makes a million times my salary! See, the only reason I’m not making billions is because I don’t have the divine skills and talent to work on my company all day.” (Or, “I choose to have a work-life balance cause I don’t mind making a little less money”)
These CEOs have PR teams dedicated to slipping out stories like these so it keeps the CEO looking like a king.
Kind of a bad argument. “Look up sewage cleaner in India” implies that there are sewage cleaners elsewhere with better jobs. Making the problem with being a sewage cleaner in India a bad condition.
Ironically I agree with you. Some jobs are way better than others, making some jobs bad and some good. A garbage man will always be a worse job than an ice cream taste tester barring absurd caveats. it’s just funny to me that your argument explicitly implies a problem with job conditions.
Yeah a decade ago is not where this problem started. Nothing points to these Chromebooks. Smart phones are a good choice but also just the homogenization of the internet from like 2005-2012 as kids stopped having to figure out how to navigate the internet and install programs, instead staying on two to three websites and everything being installed as an app.
I hate that this gif has him saying it 3 times but the video starts after he’s said the first one already.
What’s sad is that this is a consequence not just of this admins shittiness but of a long enshittification of our government.
Not only do government jobs pay a mediocre salary until you get really really far in the org, a fact that only gets worse as the idea of a middle class lifestyle gets gutted, but for decades now, working a government job has become less and less prestigious. It used to be that there were always plenty of loonies who found pride in being a “public servant” and thought the best place to use their genius was in government.
Now, as we see, there’s no one in these positions with even cursory knowledge of how these programs work.
And there’s definitely no millennials or zoomers fresh out of tech school that would debase themselves to working in government who would be able see these flaws in two seconds.
Waiting for the first tech company that reinstates in person interviews and hiring locally. Would probably work in silicon valley.
Calexit is becoming less and less of a meme every day.
Where did you get that info? Or do you just hold water for healthcare CEO prosecutions for fun?
The fuck kind of unhinged bag is that?
RWJ is one of those people who every time I hear of him he’s doing something I would expect from a zoomer tiktok star who’s in their crash out phase and I’m like, yeah makes sense, I guess I only know that guy as a meme lord but then I remember he’s in his late 30s or early 40s and him melting down like he’s 22 and doesn’t know any better is just embarrassing.
Does it stay up? Yes.
Can you sleep in it? Technically
Does it have running electricity and water? (Optional anyway)
Another big win for vibe coders. Pack it up, we’re taking the W home.
Solution? Store 8 booleans in 1 byte.
On the other side, if it’s “deskilling” to do vibe coding instead of real coding isn’t this person saying that the barrier to entry for coding has been lowered?
Either vibe coding is not effective and is therefore not taking away the skill of coding or it is effective enough to replace aspects of coding that you would otherwise need to develop the skill to do.
Like if I’m an engineer or a real estate agent or a business…dude, and I want to use coding in my field but I don’t have the time or desire to start learning a whole skill (anywhere from having children to just learning too many skills already) I assume vibe coding is my best friend.
This is a really interesting paragraph to me because I definitely think these results shouldn’t be published or we’ll only get more of these “whoopsie” experiments.
At the same time though, I think it is desperately important to research the ability of LLMs to persuade people sooner rather than later when they become even more persuasive and natural-sounding. The article mentions that in studies humans already have trouble telling the difference between AI written sentences and human ones.
Hey I’m not here to go to bat for the accuracy of LLMs, it just struck me as something that would get the result from these engines. I poked at the first couple. All the links are broken, they all lead to bad Google maps directions but googling the people in the results takes you to the websites where you can commission from them successfully. I didn’t check them all but a few of them work.
Nikolas Towers art looks awesome
Nah, it makes a lot more sense for people who don’t/can’t hold normal conversations. It would probably be harder to parse all the strange behavior and easier to overlook when it’s your only lifeline.
