  • I started wearing glasses at 17. I technically didn’t need to wear them all the time, but I just did because it was immediately much more comfortable on my eyes. I have a bent nose from a break and I got a little irritation from it, but the relief on my eyes was easily worth it.

My eyes aren’t super bad, I can actually be okay without them for most of the day. Neither eye is super bad, but I have a high astigmatism factor or whatever they call it. That makes my depth perception really funky and I can’t read anything at a distance.

I can’t really remember what difficulty I had at first besides the my nose hurting and getting used to the frames being in view. It definitely never made me nauseous though. You should probably talk to your eye dr about that.

  • I generally cook at home and maybe 1-3 times a week I go out to eat or pick up food. I’m anosmic (no sense of smell, very limited sense of taste), so I struggle to cook whole meals for myself and pretty much can’t cook anything other people can eat. That means what I “cook” at home is almost exclusively simple food like sandwiches, pasta, and frozen/premade stuff. I never get delivery, but I live in an area where I’m a 10-20 mins drive away from like 100 places selling all kinds of food.

  • Sword Art Online came out either before or around the same time Oculus did it’s kickstarter and I’ve been a VR degenerate ever since.

I never even thought about VR before that, but the idea that I could one day be totally immersed in a world where I could do anime level stuff is something that still sounds so cool. I’ll probably be dead before we get SAO level VR, but some experiences like VR in racing games are already incredibly immersive.

  • For the entirety of high school I only played Team Fortress 2, League of Legends, and Melee. I have 2000+ hrs in TF2 and probably more in the other two. Then in college I was on the Overwatch team and played in the college league, I have a bit under 5000 hrs in that.

No games I have come close to that kinda play time and none probably will since I have less time to game and I’ve kinda been losing interest in gaming in general.

  • Maybe if those ratings came from a movie theater exit poll, then I’d agree. Instead it’s like most other self reported ratings online. Essentially no one enters their rating except for: the people who really liked it, people who really didn’t like it, wannabe critics, weirdos who like to spend their time rating things despite never having seen them, and bots. The vast majority of people don’t rate movies because they don’t care enough. In my opinion ratings are just easily manipulated data that often exists just to reinforce conformity of opinion.

If you look at the ratings for the first “Kissing Booth” movie, there’s tons of reviews that essentially say the lead actress wasn’t hot enough. Then you consider that despite the first movie being rated terribly, the company thought it was actually well enough received for them to make two more movies.

  • You, her, and I seem to have pretty similar backgrounds. Although my church was more about “love thy neighbor” than penitence and punishment.

Upon further, clearer headed reading, it seems like it’s actually not as big a deal as we were raised to believe.

As far as her intentions go, I’m not really concerned about that much. I don’t turn anyone away, that’s just not who I am. I was just anxious writing this and a bit of my paranoia spilled out. I have no real reason to doubt her intentions, just trauma from people I should’ve doubted more.
