Kiwi here, originally European so I get content in two languages and from people with some interests in similar. Good percentage of local and international stuff generally keeps me happy. (Not too concerned/glad about overall numbers - there’s no continuous growth on a finite planet)

J52@lemmy.nzto Technology@lemmy.world•You're not alone: This email from Google's Gemini team is concerningEnglish2·26 days agoI’ve seen an article that describes opting out of the app integration as well (even though that by default it’ll be on. There should be a class action against Google doing that! That said, I can’t see Europe taking this as it is.)

J52@lemmy.nzto Technology@lemmy.world•Apple sued by shareholders for allegedly overstating AI progressEnglish342·28 days agoLet’s face it the problem is mostly the people. If AI was as super duper as claimed to be it would be able to construct advertising that makes everyone go: 'Yeah, I have to have this, it’s useful, ethical, the bees knees really. ’
The little advertising that still makes it over my thresholds is bad to abominable and of that what registers for me has the opposite affect it intents - I go out of my way to avoid it.

J52@lemmy.nzto Technology@lemmy.world•Operation Narnia: Iran’s nuclear scientists reportedly killed simultaneously using special weaponEnglish42·1 month agoExactly, they didn’t just kill an individual, they bombed the whole building/block the individual was in - my personal believe.
Really quite simple. If you possibly cause additional harm then even the idea of executing an apology is stupid. No?

J52@lemmy.nzto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•why do some people put a space before a question mark or exclamation point?English52·2 months agoStylistic choice to make it more visible (in most cases).
Just because things are natural doesn’t mean you can’t apply reason. Anything that’ll end up killing ourselves, in the greater picture, is petty stupid, especially if it only provides short term comfort we easily can do without.

I find the lack of grammer in the free version holding me back (possibly by design, so I’ll finally pay for something). I think it’s time to leave for me too (I didn’t enjoy the gaming side and won’t tolerate AI integration, even if it’s free).

J52@lemmy.nzto Technology@lemmy.world•Netflix will show generative AI ads midway through streams in 2026English8·2 months agoHaha, the kicker is that it’s pure greed. With their prices they don’t need it and could improve it with what the community wants, but $$$, hey… been away for nearly 2 years now, thought of tipping my toes in again but with that they can f… right off.

J52@lemmy.nzto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Stop Internet Searching and Start Asking on Fediverse?English3·2 months agoI think it shouldn’t be a competition but possibly something with added value. Possibly in the form of structure, ie something that doesn’t create hundreds of same/similar questions but constantly updates the best answers closest to the existing date. (Alphabetically searchable hashtags, etc…, build it communally, ie #NoStupidQuestions , how to best build a free information platform?).
Yawn…
