  • This one is so crazy to me. I have two friends that seem to be facing this issue right now. One took 6 months off after being laid off from his job because he wanted to, had enough money to, and just wanted to take some time off and travel etc. He keeps getting grilled about it, and has been job hunting for another 6 months on top of it. Now he’s been unemployed for a year and is getting grilled even harder for it. Why is that a problem? Like why do people see that as some kind of flaw? “I had the resources to take some time off so I did” seems perfectly fine to me

The other friend was suffering from severe burnout and decided to take a year off to get his own mental health in order. Once again, I don’t see the problem with that. If you can afford to take a year off and that’s what you want to do with your time and money, then right on, go do that. Life is for living. But now he’s having a very hard time getting a job because of it.

    Its kinda bullshit.

  • I’m not even sure I would call it “low income households”, more like “older building/houses”. Plenty of expensive apartment units are in old buildings (I’m looking at you NYC) without proper ventilation.

I own a unit in a co-op in a building that is over 100 years old. I have a gas stove. There is a vent on my above-range microwave but it’s just a filter that blows it back into the room. I do a lot of cooking. I’m in danger.

  • It look like Nvme riser cables exist, so your mad scientist approach should still be doable, but you would have to continue doing mad scientist shit.

Nvme riser going to the front of the case, maybe even the top, and then get one of those rubber nipple nubs that exist for holding nvme drives in place, and bam, you can swap the drives pretty easily.

Very niche requirement, but to each their own.

You could just get one big drive and partition it to have multiple OS or whatever it is you need. Then pick which one you want to boot from when you start up. Did they get rid of that ability? I haven’t messed with anything like that in years.
