Then one by one they started locking their crap down or making tools available for it poor enough that custom rom support died out.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto Technology@lemmy.zip•A Reddit moderation tool is flagging ‘Luigi’ as potentially violent contentEnglish7·6 months agoPeople can just use Mario’s bro and if they censor Mario then Nintendo’s green bro. I wonder if people will use this opportunity to make Nintendo a word that ends up having to enter review.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto Technology@lemmy.world•Kevin Rose, Alexis Ohanian acquire DiggEnglish1·6 months agoI wouldn’t expect much from a grifter who was involved in nfts.
Proton marketing itself on privacy while recently calling out the danger of tech oligarchs makes their decision to leave Mastodon and keep using Twitter very confusing. Lot of mixed signals.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto World News@lemmy.world•Tesla sales crash 45% in Europe as rivals surge, Musk’s politics spark backlashEnglish2·6 months agoYeah and their battery tech is just far beyond other countries. Was the main driver in convincing me to sell off Tesla and move to BYD couple months ago.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto World News@lemmy.world•Tesla sales crash 45% in Europe as rivals surge, Musk’s politics spark backlashEnglish3·6 months agoI moved out of Tesla to BYD stocks couple months ago just based on the output and price of their cars and feeling that tariffs aren’t going to keep them out forever. Looking good so far.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Celebrities will never adopt the Fediverse until usernames are centralized.English0·1 year agoBut people here don’t really care that much about celebrities being here and maybe not even their username being unique. Could probably be anon1, anon2, etc and it wouldn’t matter that much, since real identity is probably not a draw for them. Focus on regular people wanting the userbase to want to use fediverse rather than celebrities which is an off-putting first impression and point of sale for lot of people here.
You need to pivot is what I’m saying to achieve what you want.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Celebrities will never adopt the Fediverse until usernames are centralized.English0·1 year agoI’m not here for celebrities and they will always flock to centralized platforms anyways, since they are all about the views.
NightOwl@lemmy.onetoTelevision@lemmy.world•Netflix revenues up due to ad sales/ad supported plansEnglish4·1 year agoSailing is so much better than managing when to stop and continue payment for the dozens of streaming services.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Defederation is just another form of censorshipEnglish0·2 years agoNot really. These aren’t monetized sites, but just individuals inviting guests to use their instance over self hosting their own, and there’s other instances people can move to.
Each instance is better seen as individual forums than a reddit type centralized site. Some forums allows cross account logins, and some you have to create another account. And defederation doesn’t cause that instance to cease to exist like banning a community or subreddit does.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do people just not use the YouTube subscription feed?1·2 years agoI’ve like newpipe because it’s just a clean experience of only my subscription feed. I’ve hated any page other than subscription on YouTube, since I can’t even stand most of the thumbnails and I don’t endlessly use YouTube. Don’t even check out most of the videos in my own feed, so don’t need all the additional clutter YouTube shows now days.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto Technology@lemmy.world•"Block The Rich" is like an ad-blocker, but for obscenely wealthy people with overinflated egos.English1·2 years agoReminds me of Black Mirror White Christmas episode. I could use that feature.
NightOwl@lemmy.oneto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: Google tracks your app usage and so much moreEnglish1·2 years agoAre you using an app? Seen the multiple comments thing happen, so has me wondering if it is an app that is causing it or a certain version of lemmy.
Only thing is when it came to Google I started wondering who would gain from the break up in this administration. And thought of Musk coming in to control the most popular browser in the world with chrome and phone OS with Android.
So I can’t help but look at this with skepticism. And he’d probably receive Russian and Saudi financial backing to purchase and control whatever is up for grabs like was rumored with Twitter when it came to how he came up with the money
This hasn’t been normal times and rules and laws don’t apply.
