So, there we are… there IS that second amendment thing that the people of the US are always proudly citing. My question to this is: Why don’t you proud Americans start to… well… doing target practice?

Bill doesn’t gave a shit either about me religiously repeating that in a world without walls nobody did need Gates or Windows… but it felt better reiterating this mantra.

You could say the same about drugs…

Why should we need “equal power” to some hypothetical “cloud pc”? We did video cutting, 3D rendering, webbrowsing, videochatting and so on in the late 90s with PCs whose CPU speeds where measured in Mhz not Ghz… with the PCs build in the last ~15 years i really, really see no danger of running out of useable devices within my lifetime (i am slightly over 40 now).
If there will be some time in the future when its only possible to get “meaningful employment” or “make appointments” using some cloud based shitstain i will happily spend my last days doing my part in helping to burn down this dystopic society.
I did use it a couple of years ago extensively, but moved back to the basics later on: Termux and Rsync.

He can do what he wants, he is a free person and has every right to do so.
But i - as an equally free person (albeit with much, much much less wealth) - will never use voluntarily software that is generated by such an abomination and will not stop to advocate against it.
Let me use this opportunity to point towards NetBSD which has a clear “No LLM” clause in its commit guidelines

Oh… right…

Yourself and the code you read and understand. So as long as you don’t use a system where this is possible (say 9Front and the like) you trust nothing and nobody, do careful backups and don’t go on a installation spree.

This makes America as the whole an enemy, not only its government. Just saying.

My computer, my rules… and if I want a piece of software out it will move out.
What about the following take: LLMs are an abomination that consumes enormous masses of resources for… well… really nothing besides being a tool to further enshittify the Internet and the world as a whole, being a tool for making it easy creating ever more divisive content (not to mention the special content Grok is now known for), killing jobs and replacing genuine human creativity by a cheap, warped imitation thereof.
My opinion is: Everybody who uses or promotes this technology is accomplice in making the world a worse place.
So… making laws against Nazis DOES work?

Don’t use Discord!
IRC and Matrix are better, free alternatives.

The current an planned actions of the US will also surely leading to others doing things to them they don’t like…

I am now married to a Vietnamese woman for a bit over ten years and we have a kid, but i can only speak from my personal experience - as always, people are individuals and regional experiences may be utterly different.
As far as i can say: As long as you respect the culture, try to blend in and be friendly you will never find a more welcoming people, multi racial kids (we are talking European / Vietnamese here, ok?) are absolutely no problem. But i have to say: In Vietnam you also find the (i am speaking in general terms here) typical asian dislike for darker skin. You are absolutely fine as long as your skin tone matches roughly the one of the local population or is lighter. As a darker skinned person your experience may be completely different.

I don’t know about our politician, but the population surely is taking him seriously… i am living near an american base in germany and i can assure anyone: Americans are really not popular with the local population right now, and at the moment its a really, really bad idea to enter some establishments in uniform.

Vietnam really is nice (i lived there for a while), but one has to keep in mind: The living standard (away from the big cities) is still not compareable to western standards and - a thing that i find really funny in a way - i would never have thought that a communist country may be THAT anarcho capitalist.
But overall: I really love that country.

Why not self host it? If you use Software like snac or gotosocial its quiet easy and soft on resources.

Well… this was something I talked about with my father in law a while back when I lived in Vietnam, he replied around the line of “For what?”.
You should not think everyone in the world wants the same things people in the west want.
Just and idea:
Research what a “Pissplatte” (piss plate?) is and learn to weaponize it.
