If writing weird can have an impact on the world, I’m sure a lot of other things can too.
That moment when you are so deep into capitalist shit you start making motivational quotes not about talent, morals or well-being, but about money.
You really need to reach a deep and pathetic level of stupidity to actually believe something like that
Solumbran@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•YouTube's Latest Update Shows That Online Monoculture Is DeadEnglish1·7 days agoOr just a vain attempt at stopping a tornado by blowing on it.
Laws are what are needed, not writing weird.

Solumbran@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•YouTube's Latest Update Shows That Online Monoculture Is DeadEnglish2·8 days agoWell, frankly it makes it quite annoying to read.
And I don’t know how much of an effect it would have on an AI, also.
Solumbran@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Top Trump Adviser Sergio Gor Was Born In the Soviet Union1·18 days agoSo Russians are by default evil because of their country written on their passport? Or is it about where they’re born? Maybe about their ancestry? Or about their “ethnicity”?
Once you start allowing discrimination based on “origin”, the difference between that and pure racism is just a blur.
Is the guy a spy? Is the guy having ties with another government? Is he behaving in a suspicious way? Those are what matter, his “country” doesn’t, and the fact that people are immediately rushing to say that he’s from Russia shows the intention behind it: to apply a stereotype to someone they don’t like.
As I said, I’m sure that you can find a lot of dirt on this guy that has nothing to do with his ID papers. Right now people are playing like Trump trying to cast doubt on the immigration status of his opponent: they are trying to use a stereotype based on origin to make someone look bad, without any further argument.
At some point people need to stop thinking that morals are something that you can ignore freely whenever you want.
Solumbran@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Top Trump Adviser Sergio Gor Was Born In the Soviet Union11·18 days agoSo you agree with the concept of race? Okay.
Saying nazis are not tolerable is one thing, saying they are another race or have an innate difference from other humans is not only useless, but also exactly the kind of idea that allowed them to exist, so the irony is strong here.
Solumbran@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Top Trump Adviser Sergio Gor Was Born In the Soviet Union1228·19 days agoYeah, that’s a bit hypocritical to try to attack Trump by applying xenophobic stereotypes on his staff.
I’m sure you can find issues with nazis without saying they are an inferior race, and I’m sure you don’t need weird xenophobia to criticize Trump or this guy.

At most, you can use it combined (“male worker”) but no one normal says “a male” except when talking about animals. People who use it like that for humans are generally a big red flag.
And you don’t learn to use “mal” and “female” when you learn english, you only find that in toxic masculinity environments.
Solumbran@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•I am looking to broaden my youtube channels that I follow. What female channel are you following?64·23 days agoThe good old red flag of talking about “males and females” instead of men and women like a normal person with a brain.

Articles being retracted is a necessary thing, and there is nothing more suspicious than a place that never retracted anything.
What matters here is obviously the nature of the retractions, the source of the problem, which generally means whether it’s a fraud or not.

I don’t get why people are fine with comments that are as absurd as saying “to hang a painting, first stab a screwdriver in the wall then attach the painting to it, sometimes it’s not too bad”
Solumbran@lemmy.worldto TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•"I'm not a witch, I'm your wife!"31·1 month agoWell for example there is a whole episode where “woke” people are mocked by showing them as ignorant and pathetic, to the point where it ends with one them offending themselves and exploding out of the frustration.
That’s just one thing from the top of my head. You could also talk about Tidus that ends up being shown as a pathetic useless crap, defined by three things that what the show deems more essential than the rest: he’s gay, fat and black.
One of the recurring (fatphobic) jokes is that he eats mayonnaise jars with a spoon, because everyone knows that that’s why obese people are obese, they’re just lazy stupid jokes, right? /s
And to quickly surf above random other examples, the whole Reverend thing is showing that it was mostly the victims’ fault for being too stupid while joking about rape, the character of Lillian is used to spit out a lot of racist shit because “she’s a funny old woman” but she’s still shown as a nice person somehow ; there’s an episode showing one of the victims trying to become a kidnapper too (wtf?) but ending up being taken seriously by no one because everyone automatically assumes that as a stupid woman she’s basically nothing more than a housewife.
Each episode gets worse than the next and conveys increasingly immoral viewpoints, so I’d frankly question your wife’s morals if she really liked the show.
Solumbran@lemmy.worldto TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•"I'm not a witch, I'm your wife!"34·1 month agoAt the beginning it’s just ambiguous, the jokes seem to try to tackle racism and discrimination while being a little discriminatory here and there, but overall not so bad. But the more the show progresses, the more it shifts into a lot of crap, spitting shit that you can tell directly comes from “anti-woke” bullshit and other far-right ideology.
Even the character of the rapist sect leader is sort of shown in a “more stupid than evil, and actually funny” view, which I still cannot understand
Solumbran@lemmy.worldto TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•"I'm not a witch, I'm your wife!"26·1 month agoHave you seen it?
It’s one of the most discriminatory shows I’ve seen over years, and I include in that things like the big bang theory and ricky gervais. And worst of all, people seem to somehow think that it’s a sort of feel-good show or whatever.
Fascism is growing. New communication media are allowing for large scale, in-depth brainwashing.
People now strive more than ever to be part of the “norm” and eliminate all the rest. Capitalism keeps everyone so busy and self-centered that morals disappear. “Charismatic leaders” spearhead the new trends in a sect/religion approach.
It’s not stupidity of the masses. It’s an engineered death spiral, where the stupid people are the ones engineering it thinking that if it’s good for them, it is good.
