My gut feel is wages are so much higher in the US because everyone is responsible for looking after themselves if life turns on them, so you’re obliged to stockpile wealth in case you’re suddenly jobless or have a giant medical or education bill to contend with.
It’s a good argument against trying to be a real artist, using AI sounds far less stressful

There was a sort of rule at the time, for people with cd burners in their PCs. You would charge people for the 3-4 CDs which e.g. mandrake came on, but wouldn’t charge them for the time or software itself. So you’d “buy Linux” from your friends friend for a few quid.
