They just memorize patterns really well.English95·2 months agoSo, what your saying here is that the A in AI actually stands for artificial, and it’s not really intelligent and reasoning.
Huh.
Xatolos@reddthat.comto RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Holy shit I got Retro Achievements working on my Pi Gameboy! Lmao this is so cool. I get to achievement hunt in my favorite game, earthbound after 30 years. AmazingEnglish3·2 months agoThey don’t work very well unfortunately. They use a MD5 checksum to verify your game, which in the surface sounds great, until you realize that a lot of the newer setups (EmuDeck) for roms will offer to compress them into .7zip files (and other types) and then suddenly none of the games are recognized as the original MD5 checksum is different. So you cant compress any game, and not sure if they work with .m3u lists and doubt it will because most likely it’ll want to .MD5 checksum the .m3u file.
Also, it needs to have an Internet connection the entire time, so this kills more portable device usage unless you are at home/4-5G. They claim it’s to prevent people from cheating the achievement, but in the end if just becomes another block in usability.
Next you’ll tell me that cat’s aren’t white meat either…
Just checked and you are right. I’m so used to hearing “Pork, the other white meat” that I mis-understood.
Except that salami is typically made of pork, which isn’t a red meat. Most cured meats and sausages are pork based.
Sure it did… and judging from your previous rant, I’m sure it has nothing to do with you maybe reading much deeper into things that aren’t really there.

I was pointing out the irony, nothing more. Not every comment needs to be read too deeply into. Even my avatar picture is AI generated, it was from those blockchain AI generated reddit ones years ago.
Xatolos@reddthat.comto Technology@lemmy.world•Robot chefs take over at South Korea’s highway restaurants, to mixed reviewsEnglish6·3 months agoThe Feeling of Power might be close enough. It’s an Isaac Asimov short story from 1958. Basic plot is that people have become so reliant on computers, they can’t do basic math or counting. It’s about what happens with mental decline with making machines do all the thinking. (There is more, and the link explains the story but I feel that I shouldn’t include spoilers, even for a 50+ year old story.
If you want, you can read the scans of the original here.
Also, Dad’s Nuke touched on this kind of subject with people having get together and they have to make their own food and come with things like Jalapeno Pie/Cake(?) and other interesting dishes which indicates that people are already losing the ability to do basic cooking.
So… about his AI generated picture beside his name…

There are tons of wiki’s, forums, reddits, lemmy instances, discords, etc… that are full of people asking for how to get specific software to work on Windows/etc… People still sit and read documentation all the time.
It’s like when the Republicans control the white house, congress, and the senate, Democrats can’t push any consequences because the republican majority just shoot it down.
Seriously, every attempt to impeach Trump, or block these things from happening just get thrown out because there is enough Republicans to vote against it. The US checks and balances weren’t designed to consider this amount of corruption would be voted in. In the end, this is what enough who voted for, wanted.

Steam not only has a Linux client, but also has Proton which loads most Windows apps (it’s marketed for games, but in reality it will work on Windows apps).

Have you tried to play the games or did you look them up on a site? I’ve found that unless you are looking at a popular new game, a lot of the games listed are saying that they don’t play, but we’re last checked in 2023, and they do work now but no body has updated the new results.
And we’ve only just reached the 8th month of this 4 year term.
