I could understand how it would be helpful for the hearing impaired watching clearly-enunciated youtube videos, though. Should still hire professionals for movies.

I built one myself with diffusive plastic, a short throw projector, and a PS3 camera, and it ruled.
Wow that was crazy, this must be intended for not a cell phone.
I’ve seen maybe 3 passable figures by them. Mind boggling that they actually sell.
binarytobis@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your most "Fuck you, this is actually awesome?" take?9·1 month agoI think the fandom is so crappy about it because the show had to cut out most of the redemption arc of the big bads because it was prematurely cancelled. If so that’s pretty silly because it came about after the creator stuck up for a lesbian wedding being included.
binarytobis@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Important Notice of Security IncidentEnglish51·1 month agoMy big complaint with Jellyfin is that their documentation showed a “fast forward” hotkey that convinced me to switch from Plex, and when I started it up it was a misnamed “jump forward five seconds” button instead.
It’s still better for my needs, but I remain angry.
When Street Fighter IV came out, I spent several months consumed with making my own custom fightstick. Weighing the options for different switches, color coordination, the pros and cons of different gate options. Probably spent at least 100 hours looking for the perfect image for the decal on top alone. When I finally had it all together I was over the moon.
Then, almost immediately, I realized that I didn’t actually like playing Street Fighter that much, and completely lost interest in the hobby. Checked that one off the list, I guess.
Your project is cool, btw.

I’d rather have half the size twice as often, from a calorie-counting perspective.
Also you could just buy a bigger size with your gas savings if you really needed it.
If you are concerned, you could start by inviting him and his friends to something first.

Not that we would.
binarytobis@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you do when homeless folks ask for money?13·2 months agoDude, same happened to me. One guy threw the box of food he asked me to give him in a bush because he didn’t like Italian. Another told me to go to an atm for him. The last time I gave someone money they had me absolutely convinced that they needed $10 for the bus ride home. Before I even put my wallet away he was saying the same thing to the next guy.
Decided to stop that and donate to charity instead, even though money was tight. After my $20 donation they flooded my mailbox asking for more donations. They even sent me $5 with the message “This $5 could save a life!” So sick of being made into a fool for wanting to help.
If I were convinced a person truly needed help I could provide, I would straight up be willing to give them at least $1000. I simply don’t trust the pleas any more. Have to keep it limited to chance encounters with everyday people.

It would have been more fun riding around in a stolen piece of trash robbing liquor stores with a friend than grinding the bank heist over and over.
I really hate that all these horrible people refuse to retire with all of the money they’ve cheated out of people over the years. Social workers retire. Teachers retire. Firemen retire. But apparently making sure as many people die as possible is so much fun it gives these ghouls the energy they need to keep going.
