I have a 6 bay, so yeah that might be a little limiting. I have all my personal stuff backed up to an encrypted cloud mount, the bulk of my storage space is pirated media I could download again, and I have the Synology using SHR so I just plug in a bigger drive, expand the array, then plug in another bigger drive and repeat. Because of duplication sectors you might not benefit as much from that method with just 4 bays. Or if you have enough stuff you can’t feasible push to up to the cloud to give piece of mind during rebuilding I guess.
Depending on how many bays your Synology is, you might be best off getting a nuc or a mini pc for compute and using your synology just for storage.
You and me both brother.
You stopped using stupid characters that aren’t in the English alphabet.
Yeah I don’t know when that started, but it’s absolutely annoying as fuck.
I linked to a literal book that argues otherwise.
the rioters … peaceful protestors
Then the peaceful protestors don’t really care about advancing the cause they’re protesting for.

I’m starting to come around to this thought about myself as well. Not only do I also don this instead of a million stressful open tabs, when it’s work adjacent stuff that I’ll probably need to reference back again I take my own notes on the content in Obsidian, snip and paste in screenshots I might want to reference from the web page, and include command examples or code block snippets verbatim, and save the hyperlink in a yaml header parameter. I’ve gone to reference stuff just to find it completely scoured off the internet and The Internet Archive having it being hit or miss.
Everyone is all hype for local LLM’s ingesting and referencing internal/personal knowledge bases in their responses, and I’m over here like “uh I’ll just hit cmd+shift+f thx”.
Ok, thanks for that clarification. I guess I’m a bit confused as to why a comparison is being drawn between neurons in a neural network and neurons in a biological brain though.
In a neural network, the neuron receives an input, performs a mathematical formula, and returns an output right?
Like you said we have no understanding of what exactly a neuron in the brain is actually doing when it’s fired, and that’s not considering the chemical component of the brain.
I understand why terminology was reused when experts were designing an architecture that was meant to replicate the architecture of the brain. Unfortunately, I feel like that reuse of terminology is making it harder for laypeople to understand what a neural network is and what it is not now that those networks are a part of the zeitgeist thanks to the explosion of LLM’s and stuff.
I am an addict and my addiction is 4k UHD remuxes. When that uncompressed bitrate hits the screen, 👌. My Lawrence of Arabia remux is the largest I have off the top of my head and it’s like 125GB.
When I realized that theaters get DCP’s that are like 2-4 times the bitrate of a Blu-ray disk I died a little inside. I want those.
I just changed the Fw rule DST nat mangle port and told him to use jellyfin.
Are you also a fellow MikroTik/RouterOS user?
I wonder if having a “sign in” page within jellyfin that just fronts a wireguard configuration panel, saves the creds, and automatically connects and routes app traffic over the vpn iface is a remotely viable idea.
This is why you shouldn’t use the built-in TV OS. Use an Apple TV, Nvidia Shield, fire stick if you’re fine with ads, a tiny NUC would work, maybe a raspberry Pi although idk about that one.
It’s true that one is based on continuous floats and the other is dynamic peaks
Can you please explain what you’re trying to say here?
That is an insane temperature. I was in the high desert in California when the night temps never really dropped below 37.8C and day temps hit that, but it was a super dry heat. 90% of the time I was just day drinking in a big assed metal barrel full of water so it wasn’t too bad. I can’t imagine doing tourist stuff in a place i want to explore in those temps.
Haha that’s crazy. It was like 38C when I was there, if it was that hot in your country people would really still be wearing full pants? I admire the dedication but I don’t care if I look like a tourist, a child, or a tourist child I’m going to be comfortable. Unless I’m going to an event or place that has an actual dress code I guess. I’ve been to weddings and funerals in 38-39C temps and I suck it up out of respect. But on vacation? Miss me with that pants shit fam.
I have literally never seen this box. I don’t use an app, I just browse to the site in my browser.
