Too much of anything can be bad, but in North America Christian evangelicals could use more empathy.

People are leaving churches over “woke” sermons like caring for the needy or turning the other cheek.

This is one of those “an unstoppable force meets an immovable object” sort of situations.

Being some flavor of evangelical who raves about “groomers” seems to be the best predictor of being an actual groomer I’ve seen so far.

My hypothesis is they deputized a bunch of random who answered internet ads and offered them a fixed amount per person they bring in. They get paid the same, so why bother checking?

The word gets used so often as a pejorative it’s weird to see it used accurately by that crowd.

The club itself probably is. The restaurant specifically, maybe, maybe not. I’ve been to a bunch of yacht clubs over the years and the restaurant doesn’t always break even. Part of the appeal is having the exclusive spot. If members need to subsidize it, they’re often OK with that.

Nothing automatically makes someone a good role model obviously, but going through a program like Judo teaches you a lot of things like being humble.

I’d actually contrast that to supposedly softer martial arts like aikido where you don’t actually train with resistance and therefore don’t get that humbling effect that I was talking about.
