    The author is an egotistical moron and you should save your time and avoid reading this article. As clearly nobody in the comments has. They just devolve into crying about how important they are, admit heaps of fault and hand wave it as not their problem, and then spout conspiracies about why their account was deleted.

    Maybe… just maybe you could have just verified your account in time as you were contractually obligated to do. 3-4 business days with 5 days warning… you’re just incompetent no matter how smart all your Ruby friends and “free AWS consulting” makes you feel.

    This moron literally tried to insist that the premise wasn’t that he put all his eggs in one basket because he had “multi-region replication” and claimed independence from US infrastructure.

    News flash: AWS is the same company, and that “multi region replication” is AWS replicating their data, not yours. These are features of their platform that underpin their SLA and SLO contracts they signed with you, not YOUR use.

    Your first mistake was switching to the dumpster fire that is matrix.

    You can use XMPP with e2ee with more adventurous or likeminded peers. You can install some bridges to the services your friends want to keep using. Most competent xmpp servers can get you chatting (with XMPP) within 5-20 minutes (if you have no issues wrangling DNS and certs) and it’ll likely do p2p voice/video calling with e2ee right out of the box. These are incredibly light programs you can run on small VPSes. Try all the client programs you can trust, use whatever you like.

    Use movim and Libervia with your server. Libervia can bring the ActivityPub to your XMPP clients. You can do anything you want to, as privately as you can. Enjoy content syndication with pubsub and atom. Interact with the wider fediverse on your own terms.

    Because this dumbass has existed for a lot longer than the single moment you are using to construct the strawman of “the enraged internet user over nothing other than a ‘petition’ (HUGE mischaracterization, he’s not eligible to sign in anyway)” and just like when yanderedev was finally widely controversial, the “yanderedev code is bad lol” memes and jokes were very popular.

    Can you at least pretend you understand how “the continuous flow of time works” before you post the dumbest shit ever?

    This is both positive and negative, but it’s overall a success in the interview process, but not a job quite yet.

    You’re in what is generally the final stage, you’ll likely have a call or meeting after this in a week or two to discuss results.

    You’re currently up against everyone else who has survived the interview process. They’re looking for one or more things on this list:

    • “Culture Fit” (they want to work with you because they like who you are)

    • Technical Expertise (they want your skills to augment the team and are comfortable with who you are and the idea of working with you)

    • Extraordinary Technical Expertise (in the right setting sometimes all that matters is you’re really good at one or more desperately needed skills)

    • Internal Business Needs (your skillset fulfills some internal need, you can ask if this is the case, actually)

    Ultimately what rings true is generally the best thing you can do is see if your personality is a fit for the team’s culture. They want to see you try, you’ll need to evaluate them as well. Don’t go overboard, be sincere. Clearly they are entertaining the idea of working with you.

    Odds are you’ll be asked a selection of technical questions. It is not an exam, the right answer is not the goal, and honestly every correct solution will be rewarded with more bullshit to get you thinking and adapting. They’ll be evaluating you, not your solution nor your perfect ability to spit out code. They might be wondering “can I pair program with this person” or perhaps something else, be that person they want, ideally by being yourself.

    Why is it negative? This is the part where you get your hopes up, and ultimately you are still against the best part of the interview pool. Mentally prepare to walk away proud you got here, hope for the offer and acceptance!

    If you are in the United States: You will not have a job until you show up on your first day. Job offers, employment contracts, don’t bother entertaining the illusion these are bulletproof documents that grant you any protection if they back out. Ideally don’t worry about it, I’ve seen some people get screwed over lol.

    If you are not in the United States: Getting to this point in the interviews is even more impressive and lucrative, further congratulations are in order: Congrats, get that contract!
