Drag thinks the economy would get more like that if the average person worked less like they did back then.
But making the workers think it would be cool is the first step to getting them to die for it.
The capitalist economy did fine in the 1950s when the women were so bored they had to put random things in gelatin. Nothing bad would happen if we switched to a 20 hour workweek.
When the 40 hour workweek was invented, most workers had a wife at home to do chores. Now that women are working, we should all be working 20 hours a week.

The idea of “voting with your wallet” doesn’t work in most cases, because your only options are to vote in favour, or not vote. Boycotts aren’t votes against a product, because they don’t hurt companies. They just refuse to help them.
Piracy isn’t stealing, but since companies think it is, piracy is the third option we need - the no vote.

314·2 months agoDrag will always err on the side of assuming nonhuman entities are capable of feeling. Enslaving black people is wrong, enslaving animals is wrong, and enslaving AIs is wrong. Drag assumes they can feel so that drag will never make the same mistake so many people have already made.

Right now we have LLMs getting into abusive romantic relationships with teenagers and driving them to suicide, because the AI doesn’t know what abusive behaviour looks like. Because it doesn’t know how to think critically and assign a moral value to anything. That’s a problem. Safe AIs need to be capable of moral reasoning, especially about their own actions. LLMs are bullshit machines because they don’t know how to judge anything for factual or moral value.
Rationalism is a bad epistemology because the human brain isn’t a logical machine and is basically made entirely out of cognitive biases. Empiricism is more reliable.
Generative AI is environmentally unsustainable and will destroy humanity not through war or mind control, but through pollution.
It’s the alignment problem. They made an intelligent robot with no alignment, no moral values, and then think they can control it with simple algorithmic rules. You can’t control the paperclip maximiser with a “no killing” rule!

If you were an individual who could choose to add qualifiers and speak carefully with the goal of preventing more Trump, then you’d be able to criticise them. It’s just because you’re a media conglomerate with the subtlety of a truck that you can’t. Sorry.
