This isn’t even the qualifying incident; he helped promote this antivax shit in American Samoa and at least 79 people died there. Most of those were children.
The fact that the Senate confirmed this freak is insane. The fact that Mitch McConnell was the lone Republican against reaffirms the stereotype that Republicans only care about something when it affects them - Mitch is a polio survivor and therefore pro vaccinations…
I mean… I 100% agree, and yet you and I and everyone reading this are carrying around a phone that can do the exact same shit
loie@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Pardoned January 6 rioter said ‘I’m shooting myself’ before Indiana deputy fatally shot him143·5 months agoUh the officer’s life was at risk.
Are you implying the cop should have let the guy grab his gun?
Guy was a J6 rioter. By definition, stupid and crazy. Prone to making bad decisions, including a vocal declaration of suicidal intent to a police officer. What stops the guy from putting the gun to his head, then thinking “hey wait, I’m on Team Trump! Surely he’ll pardon me for this too!” And then shooting the cop instead?
Should the cop have run away? Now you’ve got a J6 rioter with a gun in a stolen police cruiser.
Please run us through the scenario in which it’s a good idea to let the mentally unstable rioter grab his gun.
And I’m not cheering the cop, either. I’m betting the cop is a fellow Republican, because…cop… but also because he foolishly trusted the J6 rioter to act reasonably and rationally. When the information presented by his computer stated this individual has a rap sheet and this situation was going to become an arrest, cop could have properly and immediately performed the arrest by standing between guy and car door then cuffing guy, thus not allowing guy the opportunity to make another stupid decision.
Cop treated this 70 in a 55 like it was a normal boring 70 in a 55 by a normal boring citizen, and this is what happened.

oh, that’s good.
And the interest rate goes up, exponentially, with age.
And by age, I don’t mean 30 or 40.
By 20 I was already feeling it, just wouldn’t admit it.

I know some of those even require proprietary photo paper modules, which is why I gave up and never bought one.
I had a Canon ip100 years ago, I can recommend it and they still make a newer one, but it looks waaay bigger than your target size. Good luck

One option is to make a second user in Mint, the OS level. This would isolate the Firefox settings for each username from each other. But this would also create separate home folders, so if you’re regularly using the same files in your personal stuff and college stuff I could see that being annoying.
Second option is to install a second browser, and just use that browser for your college account. Personal logins in Firefox, and only the college account in Chrome or whatever.

I also hear great things about the Nvidia shield, but it is pretty ancient by now. Or use a computer, but of course that’s got its own annoyances. Of course these are all the most expensive options, apparently for a reason.

loie@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•North Dakota voters will decide whether to abolish property taxes0·1 year agoAnd they get some “bedroom community” money from people working in and around Boston that don’t want to live in Mass. Not an unreasonable commute down i93 or i95, especially if your job is in the north burbs.
Pretty sure none of that applies in North Dakota. Maybe there’s folks working in Fargo or Grand Forks that prefer Minnesota? But it’s not many.

loie@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•North Dakota voters will decide whether to abolish property taxes0·1 year agoDefinitely not. There’s Teddy Roosevelt National Park, which is gorgeous, but it doesn’t attract nearly as much tourism of all the stuff that’s four hours south…
South Dakota has Badlands National Park, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, Minuteman Missile National Historic Site, Mammoth Site, Black Hills National Forest, Deadwood and Sturgis, a couple good private zoos in Reptile Gardens and Bear Country. All of that stuff is within a 1 hour drive of Rapid City, which has plenty of good hotels and restaurants and just generally what you’d expect from a modern midsize city. Rapid City is honestly worth the trip for anyone, but If you’re a real outdoorsy person then you could easily enjoy a month out there. Oh and then not that far away (relatively speaking - 2 hours drive) is Devil’s Tower in Wyoming.
So no… NoDak is comparatively sparse. And they probably like it that way.

That’s why “AI” is garnering all this investment. Exactly like Theranos. Doesn’t matter if their product worked, or made any goddamned sense at all really. Just the very idea of nuking shitloads of salaries is enough to get the investor class to dump billions on the slightest chance of success.
Sure sounds like it was. And nudists are weird.
Yep, weird.
That makes you, in the eyes of the weird, weird.
And that whole situation, if all the other weird shit wasn’t already enough, that should have been your cue to behave as though a nun were constantly present, scowling at you, slapping a ruler into her palm. You did not, ergo I agree with JASN, you deserved this.
Sorry man, but next time you want to hang with the weirdos, ask yourself constantly whether you vibe with the weirdos.
