Is this to be taken seriously or is it just republican trolling?

Matengor@lemmy.mlto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Over 30 we no longer want to go out - we want to be left alone, with a beer/wine, a blanket, tv, and tacos…2·2 months agoSame age. I actually enjoy going out with friends from time to time. But the gravity of my couch has grown by a lot with the years.
I totally get your thoughts and support parts of them. Let’s just agree that skyscrapers are dinosaurs.
But the bedouin tent, does it provide shelter during heavy storms or even earthquakes? What about smart home technology, wifi and a place to mount solar panels? Is it energy efficient?
But probably it’s a great idea to include concepts of temporary, mobile buildings into our architectural future.
Futuristic in concept. Futuristic in design.

Matengor@lemmy.mlto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How can we make lemmy have more relevance?4·3 months agoI’m satisfied with the status quo. Maybe I’d like to see more entertaining satire communities. I still visit the r/comics subreddits from time to time and stuff like r/atbge, r/fuckmyshitup. Stuff like that.
And multis. I loved my multireddits.

Matengor@lemmy.mlto News@lemmy.world•Super Bowl fans whine over Kendrick Lamar's halftime show and 'DEI'77·6 months agoSo it’s a report on the reactions to the show on X. Who would have thought they wouldn’t like an all-black half time show?

I couldn’t even call the About Us page without consenting to all cookies, so I don’t know where they are located.
Anyway, I do not bother. It’s a crap site for what I can see.
Matengor@lemmy.mlto Technology@lemmy.world•Are dynamic lock screen and Al in mobile phones the best tech trends this year?English31·8 months agoHm, what do you like about Dynamic lock screens? Wouldn’t they consume more energy and add to optical overstimulation? To be honest, it’s a feature that I could live without.
AI is something else, I see that as a real trend. Though there is a lot of noise right now. Simple algorithms often just claim to be AI.
Personally, I think that AI is useful when editing and managing your photos. The phone might be able to predict how you like your photos cropped, how to remove unwanted elements or which photos contain your favorite people etc.
Also, AI might predict what you want to do next on your phone and suggest the proper apps or information.
I heard of someone talking to ChatGPT on a longer car ride. He said it was a surprisingly pleasant experience. 😊
The editor, Saibal Dasgupta, seems to be a journalist located in India.
Voice of America’s headquarter is in Washington though, so good question.

Matengor@lemmy.mlto Technology@lemmy.world•Former LA Dodgers Owner Frank McCourt Reveals Plans to Purchase TikTokEnglish4·9 months agoProject Liberty’s core mission focuses on decentralizing social networking through an open-source Internet protocol. This technical framework would allow users to maintain ownership of their data and potentially transfer their social connections and content across different platforms. Which is a significant departure from the current system where user data remains locked within individual platforms.
The proposed system would work similarly to email, where users can communicate across different service providers. In this vision, social media users could maintain their connections and content regardless of which platform they choose to use.
His plans sound a lot like the Fediverse
Matengor@lemmy.mlto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Why is Mastodon struggling to survive?English0·10 months agoWhile I agree with the article and a lot of comments, I am still active on my Mastodon account and I am enjoying it more than ever.
Disclaimer: I’m a white male westerner working in IT. 😉
A friend of mine works in linguistics and education. He was an avid Twitter user and has since migrated to Bluesky and Mastodon. He says, Mastodon is quite complex and clunky but on Bluesky there’s not much happening in his bubble.
For me, the quality of the conversation and the regional character of my local instance is a big plus on Madison. On Lemmy, I read a lot on international and tech topics, but on Mastodon, the conversation is related more to my countries politics and my region.
So, maybe they lost a lot of users. But the 14% that stayed are a good start for quite a vivid community.
If anyone has questions on how to get something out of Mastodon, ask away or follow me here: mateng@nrw.social.
You can’t stress that enough. I love sci-fi, but I never really fancied Star Wars.
Now, as a dad, I rewatch the movies and replay scenes with my son, and the similarity with fantasy action movies strikes me. For example, the beautiful display of alien species and habitats.
