I was talking about the companies Palantir and Anduril. Whoever chose those names are not true Lord of the Rings fans because even though they used names from Lord of the Rings they should know that Tolkien would never have approved of it. Thus, they are not Lord of the Rings fans but rather are just using the names for clickbait purposes. To me personally a tech bro indicates a more casual, nonprofessional - someone who is interested in tech as a hobby. They might do bit coin mining or some casual stock investment but they are not big corporate overlords like those who run Palantir and Anduril. Though of course I could be generalizing too.

Those are not tech bros but tech corporates. Big difference. And I dont consider them true LOTR fans. I think they are just trying to use the names for clickbait and to be relevant.
I don’t think so cause that is a big company not a tech bro but maybe you are right
I have never heard of Tech Bros liking lord of the rings? Unless OP in the meme is generalizing about nerds in general which is weird cause there are lots of different kind of nerds like Star Wars nerds, Harry Potter nerds, etc.

3·10 days agoAh sorry I did not watch the video. Yeah fair enough. Maybe they can add a QR Code that links to a website about the language? Though I don’t think many people would be super annoyed.

51·10 days agoI don’t mean to be rude but isn’t Cornish an extinct language with only 400-500 modern native speakers? That said it is kind of dumb for them to put Welsh in Cornwall. Feels like they are digging themselves a hole. Though I do wonder if there are more Welsh speaking people in Cornwall then Cornish?

Gaming@lemmy.ml•The real reason why I don't like to stream with Nvidia GeForce Now
1·13 days agoSurely they do this with their own graphics cards if they have such software built into GFN then they likely have it built into their Nvidia Drivers for their hardware products?

Gaming@lemmy.ml•The real reason why I don't like to stream with Nvidia GeForce Now
3·13 days agoIt never occurred to me that they would. Though sadly I can’t afford a new gaming PC. My rig is from 8 or 9 years old. And the GPU was a former mining card that I rescued from ebay, lol. RX 580 8gb, 16gb DDR4 ram, and Ryzen 5 2600. Not bad but it’s showing its age with modern games. Also does not have RTX so some won’t even run like Indiana Jones. Only way to play is by streaming services. Lately been using GFN to play KCD2 and it’s actually quite good even on WiFi. Just playing it on my laptop and only occassional stuttering. Though granted I am only in the tutorial level and have not had many big battles yet. I have also tried Enshrouded and Medieval Dynasty and they work ok though it does stutter a bit.

18·14 days agoWell the BBC is technically forcing us to watch it. Many people don’t watch TV at all but constantly receive threatening letters complaigning that we are not paying for a TV License that we don’t use. They want every single household to have a TV and a license even if we don’t watch the BBC. So that is a big problem with a forced narrative from the BBC. I do agree that they do a lot of things well but it’s often too little too late. However, my main issue is not the quality of state controlled media or the ethical problems with that but rather the fact that they keep forcing us to pay for it. Even if we don’t use it.

23·14 days agoThat is interesting. I like that they used YouTube channels. I feel like TV is sadly a dying platform though I do hate the day that TV and Cinema die. Unfortunately it only happens cause TV License people dug their own grave. Also, there is not enough new stuff to watch on TV with every streaming service putting out so many platforms to watch on. Though maybe I am being too cynnical and I apolagize.

26·14 days agoBBC being funded is good but state controlled media is very bad. BBC is highly regulated and controlled by the crown and the British gov. How they push the TV License is very invasive and offputting to the point of harassment and threats. Surely there has to be a better way to do this. They should try to make people want a license not claiming that we HAVE to have it. That’s all I am trying to say.

1011·14 days agoMaybe they should stop forcing this antiquated TV License scam. For those who don’t know, the UK pushes for a TV License to watch Live TV though most people don’t watch BBC anymore. Though I bet they will try to find a way to include Netflix and more in the TV License. EDIT: I agree the BBC should be funded though they are not a perfect entity and state controlled media is very bad especially for journalism. I think they are going about advertising the license in the wrong way and there is a lot of evidence of harassment from letters and visits to get a tv license even if you don’t have a tv!

I think the problem is that VPNs only work for websites not software. Minecraft is client based. So it might work for browser versions of Minecraft. Dunno about the actual game though.
