If I should add a comment it is that when so many people need to vet you, it’s also very hard to force change in the sense of the people.
People rights are still a massive problem compared to the west, and that might be the reason why. Or maybe it comes in a wave later on. People rights was not a thing in the west either if you go 150 years back.

We can hate on a centralisied government all we want, but when it works, it works really well.
It’s also a little more fragile being prone to insane leaders. But so is the US. Real democracy is all they need now to get fully on track.

themurphy@lemmy.mlto Technology@lemmy.world•Scientists make game-changing breakthrough that could slash costs of solar panels: 'Has the potential to contribute to the energy transition'English4·4 days agoIt does. Also seems weird nobody thought of a magnifying glass before.
But its also the beauty in science. Now somebody else thought about it, and they might work harder to fix the next problem: Heat.
If that gets better now, solar panels will increase in output even more. There are so many technologies going into one product, and each field have its own experts.
I’m excited.

themurphy@lemmy.mlto Technology@lemmy.world•PNG has been updated for the first time in 22 years — new spec supports HDR and animationEnglish4·15 days agoIt makes sense, right? Is there a way around that when adding new features to a file format?
The alternative is to make another file format for clarity, but it’s not really what you want to do.

And TikTok will not be the last. Now a wealthy person can just ask the US to buy up something. Doesnt sound like Russia at all.

[19:23 | JUN 28 2025 | GVS Deep Dive]English3·19 days agoYes, you should use it for the fastest lock, but if your interest is to keep the US out of influence, ofc they would do it.
Either that, or they do it to please China hoping for an ally. Second option might be their played hand, even if it doesnt work.

Its a slow transition, but it is one of magnitude. The US could shut down the satilites over Iran, like Starlink did it with Russia/Ukraine.
They are preparing for that, and mostly for the US to loose the power to potentially do it. It matters in case of all out war.
