I suppose I can get behind that idea, but ear piercings being feminine is just so arbitrary; most body modifications aren’t thought of as feminine so much, e.g. tattoos aren’t feminine unless you pick very feminine designs. I suppose even with ear piercings it depends on the style? Ear gauges aren’t particularly feminine.
Don’t you think all of that is arbitrary? Why are tattoos more masculine “unless you pick feminine designs”? Where does the judgement of feminine/ not feminine come from in the first place?
That is exactly what I’m talking about, it IS all incredily arbitrary. But apparently even in queer spaces like this, people perceive (most) ear piercings as feminine.
