Not pictured are a dozen eggs and a 5lb sack of spuds under the cilantro.
I’m to that age where I take great joy in comparative shopping. I’m sure I could have saved a few more bucks if I had shopped around a bit more, but this wasn’t bad.
Total was $66.64.
Some highlights I think are great value
$1.99/lb chicken breast $0.33 per avocado $2.99 per Red Baron pizza $0.79 per can of tuna

Yeah, definitely no ethical consumption under capitalism. At least they’re not price gouging to the extent most of the others are. Being anti-labor is scummy. Their meat is garbo and overpriced though.
I used to work there, I agree on all points. No judgement for going there, we gotta make the budget work somehow
I feel for their workers. They’re always so pleasant despite all the hats they wear.
Hmmmm…I usually don’t see the workers at my Aldis wear any hats. Maybe 1 hat, and I don’t remember it, because that doesn’t stick out in my mind as out of place.
But certainly nobody wearing 17 hats or anything. I’d take a picture of that, and ask them “Hey man, why are you wearing so many hats???”
Unless it leads to more profit somehow, I couldn’t see Aldi spending money on hats for their employees lol
It’s an American idiom, probably emerging about 60 years ago but n-grams dates first usages in print to around 1947.
To wear many hats is to do many different jobs or have many different responsibilities.
Right, I was making reference to the owners of Aldi being notoriously cheap lol
Helpful point about meat, any suggestions on places to check for better deals on meat? Increasingly I’m just reducing the amount of it I eat, but being broke as shit I’m always trying to keep in mind where’s a good place to buy what
I suppose that can be geographically dependent. I just so happen to live near a grocer that has a good thing going with local farmers. The meat is from Save A Lot. They typically have great value in meat in my area. Particularly pork and chicken, but often beef too. Save A Lot cuts their own meat and they’re not the best at it, but that savings they do pass on.
I should really look up if there are local grocers around me other than farmers markets. Thanks for your thoughts!
Their chicken is fine, but their beef sucks (which may be what you meant by “meat”).
